Here, I Lie and the Saint are two motion picture projects whose concerns and characters overlap.
the Saint is a brief monodrama set to a text which I've been evolving through performance since 1985. What began as a long rant has been honed to a few sentences. The more it loses, the closer I get to it's meaning. In this version I hope to capture a divine relic with one foot out the mythical door: in his final pose, uttering his last words. I also hope to deliver a text in the instant before it evaporates.
Here, I Lie is being developed as a feature film. It concerns the life and travels of a frustrated mystic and amateur illusionist, a man too skeptical to embrace his religious impulses, but too weak to shed them. Due to a horrific mishap during a suicide attempt, his fate is to live on, too terrified to take his own life, but without the slightest fear of losing it.
